However, Man o' War is thought to be one of the greatest race horses in racing history, winning 20 of 21 races in the 1919 and 1920 seasons.
Man o' War was born in 1917. Although he raced for only two seasons, he broke many records. He was retired to a stud farm in 1920 and died in 1947. Man o' War sired War Admiral, another famous thoroughbred race horse that won the Triple Crown in 1937. War Admiral was born in 1934 and died in 1959.
Seabiscuit was the grandson of Man o' War. This horse was very well-known during the Great Depression, especially after beating War Admiral in 1938. Seabiscuit raced for 6 years and was in 89 races.
Secretariat won the Triple Crown in 1973 after starting his racing career in 1972. Secretariat also won the title of Horse of the Year in 1972 and 1973. He was retired after the 1973 season. This racehorse was born in 1970 and died in 1989.
Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978 and was the great-grandson of Native Dancer.
