"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" features a complicated series of interconnecting plots. The main story involves the return of the ancient Dragon Alduin, who intends to swallow the world if he is not stopped. The player character is "Dragonborn," meaning he can absorb the souls of defeated dragons.
In addition to the dragon plotline, there is also a civil war being fought between the Stormcloaks and the Empire. The Stormcloaks claim that the empire lost its right to rule Skyrim after signing the White-Gold Concordat, which outlawed the worship of Talos, the god whom most Skyrim natives worship. This treaty was introduced by the elves of the Aldmeri dominion after they defeated the Empire in a large and bloody war. Because of this treaty, many Nords resent the elves and claim that Ulfric Stormcloak is the rightful High King of Skyrim, because he defeated the old High King in Skyim.
There are also several major side questlines, each with its own story, such as The Mage's College of Winterhold questline, which centers around a mysterious artifact found within the walls of an ancient Nord burial site, and the revival of the Thieves guild in Riften. This game has a diverse collection of quests and stories, and it may take several playthroughs to experience everything the game has to offer.
