Whereas Unity supports multiple programming languages, Unreal Engine only accepts code written in C++. On the other hand, developers have full access to the source code of Unreal Engine. As such, Unreal Engine offers greater control over a game than Unity.
Unity can publish games to more platforms than Unreal Engine. Some of the platforms that Unity can publish to, but Unreal Engine can't, are Windows Phone, Wii U and PlayStation Vita. Unity comes in two versions: personal and pro. The personal version is completely free to use unless the end product makes more than $100,000 a year. Users must purchase and use the pro version from that point on. Likewise, Unreal Engine is free until the developer makes over $3,000 in revenues in a quarter. Epic Games, the company behind the Unreal Engine, claims a 5 percent royalty for any gross revenue over $3,000.Learn more about Video & Online Games
