Place Gerbera daisies in a microwave-safe container with silica gel packets to dry them. They must be microwaved in short intervals until they are completely dry.

  1. Prepare the Gerbera daisies

Cut the Gerbera daisies from the plant when you are ready to dry them. Once they are cut, work fast to prevent them from drying too rapidly. Remove leaves that you do not want to keep.

  2. Add the silica gel and flower

Put an inch of silica gel into a microwave-safe container. It should be big enough to place the flowers without bending them. Place a Gerbera daisy on top of the gel with petals facing up. Pour more silica gel between the petals, covering the flower completely.

  3. Microwave the container

Microwave the Gerbera daisy and silica gel for two minutes on low heat. Check the daisies, and repeat for another two minutes if they are not dry yet. Continue in two-minute intervals. Set the container in the microwave and microwave on low heat in intervals of two minutes.

  4. Finish the drying process

Remove the container from the microwave and cover it loosely. Leave it out at room temperature for 24 hours minimum. Lightly brush the silica gel from the petals and remove the flower from the container.
