To dry flowers in a microwave, heat the flowers sandwiched between paper towels or in a microwave-safe container with silica gel. It is best to use hardy flowers or ferns that have a lot of petals and leaves.
To dry flowers with paper towels, place a doubled-over piece of paper towel onto a microwave-safe plate. Put flowers face up on the paper towel and cover with another doubled-over piece of paper towel. Place a second plate on top of everything and microwave for between 20 to 50 seconds, depending on the type of flower. Allow flowers to dry on the paper towel for two hours.
To dry flowers with silica gel, line the bottom of the container with 2 inches of gel. Place buds face up in the container and pour in more gel to cover the flowers completely. Heat until flowers look and feel dry. Cover container and allow to dry overnight.
