Who Created the Crimson Room Game?

Japanese multimedia artist and animator Toshimitsu Takagi created “Crimson Room,” a popular room escape game. Takagi also created other room escape games, including “Viridian Room,” “Blue Chamber” and “White Chamber.”

Takagi was born in Hakkaido, Japan, in 1965, and studied Western art history at Waseda University. In 1993, he first began working with multimedia. Takagi has also worked in the Internet industry since 1995.

“Crimson Room” and its successors are all point-and-click adventure games in which the player must escape from a location by solving a series of puzzles that center on interacting with different aspects of the environment. “Crimson Room” features almost no story and no interactions with other characters, emphasizing the sense of players’ isolation.
