You can make homemade jar labels by printing a filled template onto full-sheet sticker paper using a laser color printer. Purchase sticker paper in different colors or with different borders to complement your label design and jar aesthetic.
If you don't have a label template that you want to use, you can create your own from scratch using Microsoft Word. You can print labels individually or create an entire sheet to label multiple jars. To do this, open a new Word document and choose Mailings, then Create and finally Labels. Type your desired label text in the Address box. From here, you can select font typefaces, borders, colors and sizes to customize the label. Select the number of labels you wish to print, then choose the paper type and the printer.
If you want to avoid making your own labels, you can download templates online and fill in your own text. Common templates available online range from chalkboard-style freezer labels to French-style canning labels. For Mason jars, choose a template that is round and sized to fit into the lid, or choose a hanging tag to tie around the mouth of the jar. Sticker label templates fit nearly any size jar by wrapping around the side, making them versatile and easy to use.
