When it comes to clothing, cotton is better than polyester in terms of breathability, absorbency, comfort and endurance. It is also a natural material that does not originate from chemicals and does not require the use of petroleum products.
Polyester clothing has advantages as well. It is generally less expensive than cotton, although some cotton clothing items are made overseas at lower prices. Polyester is resistant to shrinkage, wrinkles and mildew, and it dries quickly. Although the synthetic composition of polyester raises environmental concerns, cotton also contributes to deterioration of the environment because of the amount of pesticides used during the growing process.
