The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals released a unlicensed parody of Majesco's "Cooking Mama" games called "Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals" in November of 2008. The game is playable in a browser at the PETA website and has a Thanksgiving theme.
PETA released the parody to highlight the fact that meat is used in many of the dishes in the "Cooking Mama" games. PETA lists vegan recipes on its website alongside the game.
Majesco stated in response that the company supports the humane treatment of animals and that the "Cooking Mama: World Kitchen" game had at least 25 different vegetarian recipes.
