Pine is one of the companies known to have manufactured Morse sewing machines. Morse was established in 1948 as a U.S. distributor of these Japanese-manufactured machines. The Pine Sewing Machine Company was purchased by Singer in 1959.
Morse Sewing Machine & Supply Corporation was first established in New York, New York, by Philip Sidney Morse. He served as president of the company while Marion Morse served as secretary-treasurer. Morse sewing machines were imported from Japan through the Mercury Machine Importing Company, in which Philip Morse served as treasurer. In 1955 both of these companies were found to have violated the Federal Trade Commission Act.
