Canceling an Xbox Live account can be done by logging into the user subscriptions page and choosing cancel automatic payment, which will stop the service at the end of the current billing period. The service can also be cancelled at once by contacting Xbox Support, but this does mean that account holders will not gain the benefits of subscription time they have paid in advance for in some cases.
In order to cancel a subscription, the following steps need to be taken:
- Log in to the Microsoft Account page Account holders can sign in on the official Xbox website, then proceed to the subscriptions page. Having access to email or smartphone is also recommended as any account changes require the entry of a security code that will be sent to the account holder's email or phone.
- Cancel automatic payment Locate the cancel automatic payment option, and select the Xbox Live membership. Set automatic renewal to off, and review the features list to make sure it is clear what services will no longer be available once the subscription ends. There will also be a short question asking the account holder why the service had to be canceled, which can be filled in to provide customer feedback.
