Sally Foster previously sold upscale gift wrap paper through schools and other nonprofits. The paper was top quality and heavier than that found in drugstores and discount stores, according to the Los Angeles Times. Designs were available each year for Christmas, Hanukkah, birthdays and other occasions. Schools received 50 percent of the profits from sales.

The Sally Foster company started in 1973, and by 1989, the company had about 2,500 accounts and had outgrown its production facilities, says the Los Angeles Times. Bill Moore, a neighbor of the Fosters, then bought the company from them and retained the Fosters as consultants. Moore sold the Sally Foster company for $31 million to Entertainment Publications in 1992.

Entertainment Publications, then known as Entertainment Promotions, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March 2013, according to the Detroit Free Press. The company closed its doors and laid off 667 employees. The company's school fundraisers included the sale of coupon books, discount cards and cookie dough as well as Sally Foster gift wrap.
