Iron ore is used to make a number of different items in Minecraft. By smelting it in a furnace, the ore turns into an iron ingot, which players then use to craft the items. Finding and mining iron ore is a fairly straightforward process.
Step 1: Use the right tool
While iron can be mined with a wooden pickaxe, the most efficient tool is a stone one. Enhancements to the axe, such as fortune or silk touch, are worthless. The fortune enhancement will not result in extra blocks, and the player can harvest the blocks with or without the silk touch enhancement.
Step 2: Search in the right location
While iron ore is abundant throughout the Minecraft world, it is important that the player search in the right layer. To be most successful, mine this ore at layer 40. Iron ore may be found above or below that layer, but since it is most abundant at layer 40, a player's time is best spent mining at that level.Learn more about RPG Video Games
