Create simple and delicious play dough in your own kitchen by combining ingredients that you may already have on hand in your pantry. This recipe requires 2 cups of peanut butter, 6 tablespoons of honey, nonfat dry milk or milk and flour, optional cocoa for flavor, and a variety of edible treats for decorating. The project will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please note that a child under the age of 1 or someone with allergies to any of the ingredients should not eat this play dough.
- Combine the first three ingredients in a mixing bowl
Mix together the peanut butter, honey and dry milk or milk plus flour. Add enough non-fat dry milk or milk and flour so that the dough reaches the consistency of bread dough.
- Add flavoring
Add the desired amount of cocoa for flavor. Alternately, carob may be used if desired.
- Shape, decorate and eat
Shape the dough in a wide variety of ways. The play dough can be rolled flat, shaped into three-dimensional shapes or cut with cookie cutters. Decorate the play dough creations with candies or edible treats, such as cereal, sprinkles, dots, chocolate chips and ice cream cones.
- Store for later use if necessary
Store the dough in an airtight container.
