Current odds sheets for Oaklawn or any horse racing venue do not exist. Horse race wagering is parimutuel betting, or pool betting, where individual gamblers bet against each other, and odds are not generated until the betting window opens for a particular race 20 minutes before post time.
As wagers are made, odds begin to generate based upon the amount of money placed on each individual horse, with the track taking a percentage for handling the transaction. On the morning of each race day, a daily racing form is generated that lists every horse in each race with detailed information on past performances, jockey and breeder. This information is used to handicap, or project, winners. As of 2015, the least expensive place to get a daily racing form is Equibase.com for $2.95. Picks for each race can be purchased from professional handicappers listed at Equibase.com and DRF.com. The cost for their services varies dramatically, and none of them are free.
