In 1955 Harold "Shot" Jackson and Buddy Emmons founded the Sho-Bud company and for several decades produced pedal steel guitars and dobros. In 2007, instrument manufacturer Gretsch purchased the Sho-Bud company and discontinued production of the product line. David and Harry Jackson, sons of Harold Jackson, continue to make steel pedal guitars based on the original Sho-Bud models under the name Jackson Steel Guitars.
