How Do You Get the Black Charizard in "Pokémon?"

In order to get a Black Charizard, or shiny Charizard, evolve a shiny Charmeleon. Charmeleon evolves from Charmander, which can be bred to be shiny. Use the Masuda Method, and give the Pokémon a Shiny Charm to increase the odds that the Charmander egg is shiny.

  1. Breed Pokemon using the Masuda Method

The Masuda Method involves using breeder Pokémon from different countries of origin, rather than two Pokémon from a single game. This increases the odds of a shiny Pokémon egg slightly.

  2. Give a breeding Pokémon a Shiny Charm

Giving one of the breeding Pokémon a Shiny Charm to hold increases the odds of producing a shiny egg to 1 in 512, rather than 1 in 8,192.

  3. Hatch eggs

After placing the breeding Pokémon in the Day Care Center, the player needs to walk around until an egg is produced. Collect the eggs and walk until they hatch. Repeat the hatching process until one of the Charmanders is born a different color.

  4. Level up Charmander

Charmander evolves into a Charmeleon at level 16, then into a Charizard at level 36. To reach level 36, the player needs to train Charmander by battling other Pokémon in the game to gain experience points.
