To begin, establish a betting limit. Divide the markers evenly among the players; each player places a marker in one of the eight different regions of the board. Shuffle and deal all the cards; some players may have more than others. Deal cards to an extra space as well, called the “widow.” The dealer may exchange his hand with the widow; if he does not want to, the widow is auctioned off to the other players.
In the first phase of the game, follow traditional poker rules. The player to the left of the dealer either bets or passes. Continue betting until players reach the agreed-upon limit. The winner collects the markers from the pot and plays his lowest card from the winning hand.
Play the next card in sequence with the discarded suit. If no one has such a card, the last player from the poker phase lays down his lowest card in the opposite color suit. If this person doesn't have the appropriate card, he is fined one chip, which is put in the pot. Continue in a clockwise direction until a card is playable.
Follow by placing cards until one player is out of cards. Any time a person is unable to play, the player must pay one marker to the pot. When someone places his last card, everyone else must contribute a chip into the pot for each card still held. The winner collects all the markers.Learn more about Board Games
