A backgammon set contains the board, 30 playing pieces called checkers, two regular six-sided dice, two dice cups with a rim at the edge to make it difficult for players to manipulate the rolls and one doubling cube. The doubling cube has the numbers two, four, eight, 16 and 64. It is used to double the bet when players are gambling on the outcome. The board contains 24 triangles, called points. The 30 checkers come in two colored sets of 15 each, one set for each player.
