The Orville and Wilbur Wright, or the Wright brothers as the they are more commonly known, invented the first successful airplane in 1903. Their invention made four flights that year at Kitty Hawk.
The Wright brothers were fearless inventors who had in 1902, only a year prior to the invention of the powered airplane, achieved a momentous breakthrough with a successful glider vehicle. The subsequent invention of the three-axis control feature would solidify the brothers in aeronautical history, as it became the linchpin for the success of the powered and fully autonomous fixed-wing aircraft. The following year, the brothers invented the airplane.
