Full Answer

Him and Her were siblings from the same litter. The president often posed in photographs with his beagles after acquiring them in 1963. He aroused much anger from the public after being photographed lifting Him by the ears.

Neither dog survived to see the end of LBJ's first term in the White House. Her died in 1964 after swallowing a rock, and Him died in 1966 after being hit by a car. The year before his death, Him fathered a litter of puppies, and Freckles, one of the puppies, was given to LBJ's daughter. However, when she married and moved to Texas, she left the dog with her father.
