Thomas Parr was an Englishman who reportedly was born in the year 1483 and died in 1635 at the age of 152. If the accounts are true, then Parr is indeed the oldest known man to have lived.
There is some doubt and dispute about the legitimacy of Parr’s reported year of birth. Some historians suggest his birth records were confused with those of his grandfather. Some also believe that his records were confused with those of Sir Thomas Parr, an English knight and father-in-law of King Henry VIII, who was born the same year that the Thomas Parr who died in 1635 was allegedly born.
