What Are the Similarities Between Hamilton and Jefferson?
Last Updated Mar 24, 2020 7:14:31 PM ET
The similarities between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson are not many as both men had very different ideas for the United States; however, both men were members of President George Washington's cabinet. One of the primary differences between the two was that Hamilton was a Federalist and Jefferson was a Republican who did not believe in the Federalist goals.
Hamilton reportedly despised Jefferson. Jefferson, in turn, equally despised Hamilton and the Federalists because he felt that the Federalists would strip Americans of all of their rights by eliminating the individual rights present in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, of which Jefferson was a co-author.
