Who Invented Recycling?

The emergence of recycling cannot be ascribed to a single person, since people have been recycling since early human history. The evidence of the establishment of the very first municipal dump in Athens, Greece leads back to 400 B.C.

There is also significant evidence present that ancient Romans used to recycle their bronze coin into highly valuable statues. The monetary worth of such structures was much higher than the original coins. Also, they used to melt metals from everything, such as coins and jewelry, to make weapons during wartime. Romans are also believed to have created sanitation groups for the first time. These teams, consisting of two men each, walked the streets of the city loading garbage into wagons.
