Who Invented Google?

Google is a company, so it wasn't invented so much as it was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The company was originally called Backrub and was run on Stanford University's servers until it outgrew the available bandwidth. Google was made official on Sept. 15, 1997, when Google's domain name was registered.

In 1999, the company moved out of the home office it was conceived in, and the game-changing Google AdWords was launched the next year. Through the proceeding years, Google continued to be a formidable force, adding such components as Google Images, Google Maps and Google+.
