Not much is known about Euclid's life, but historians believe he was born around 330 B.C. in Alexandria, Greece to wealthy parents. Some claim that he was born in Tyre and spent his life in Damascus.
Euclid of Alexandria, as he is commonly called, is known as the father of geometry. Some documents claim he studied in Plato's school in Athens. After he moved to Alexandria he discovered geometry, which is known today as “Euclidian Geometry.” Euclid presumably opened a school in Alexandria to teach this new math. Much about his life and death remains unknown, but there are claims that he died around 260 B.C.
