Christopher Columbus was the man credited with the discovery of America. He sailed from Spain towards the West in hope of reaching Asia but ended up in America after a long and tedious journey that almost led to mutiny by his own crew members.
Columbus and his company sailed in three ships called the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. The journey began on August 3, 1492, and ended on the October 12 of the same year with the discovery of the new land. Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa Republic and grew to become a navigator, colonizer and explorer.
