Marie Curie studied at Sorbonne in Paris, France. Sorbonne was the original home of the University of Paris or what is known today as the Sorbonne University. The modern day Sorbonne University combines eight different schools including the Paris-Sorbonne University and the Pierre et Marie Curie University.
Marie actually finished her normal schooling at the age of 15 in Poland, but higher education was not allowed for women there. Marie and her sister, Bronya, saved money so that Bronya could travel to Paris to take classes in medicine. Once she was established, she sent for Marie who began her schooling in 1891 while living with her sister, who was married by that time. It was in Paris that Marie met her future husband, Pierre, which became one of the most important pairings in science.
