Adolph Hitler attended a grade school operated by Benedictine monks in Lambach, Austria, and a technical high school in the city of Linz, Austria. Desiring to be an artist, HItler wanted to go to the classical high school rather than the technical high school.
Hitler's father insisted that the future leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany learn a trade at the technical high school. By all accounts, Hitler excelled in grade school. On the other hand, he did only marginally well in high school. According to associates of the Hitler family at the time, young Adolph gave serious thought to becoming a priest during his earlier years in school.
