Characteristics of utopian societies include the right to do whatever a person wants, a lack of religion, equality among all people, government support for all people, an abundant supply of everything, no work and available time to achieve anything. A utopian society creates the notion of a perfect society where there are no social evils.
It is argued that utopia cannot exist in today's society, because some of its characteristics are beyond actualization. Utopia is intended to create a scenic picture in the mind of a person where many aspects of the existing society do not exist. However, there are some situations that come close to the notion created by utopia. Afterlife, as described in Christianity, and life in the Old Testament portray some of the characteristics of a utopian society.
