Abigail Adams was the wife of the second president of the United States, John Adams. She was born in 1744 in Massachusetts and even though she is known as an advocate for access to education for girls, she had no formal education. She had three sons, including John Quincy Adams who became the sixth president of the United States, and three daughters and became First Lady in 1797, at the age of 52. Abigail Adams died at her home in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1818, at the age of 73.
