"What Would Jesus Eat?" by Dr. Don Colbert is a healthy eating guide and cookbook based on Biblical studies and ingredients that were typical during the time of Jesus. The book was first published in 2002 with the subtitle "The Ultimate Program for Eating Well, Feeling Great, and Living Longer."
In the book, Colbert encourages diets consisting of common Mediterranean foods from 2,000 years ago, such as grains, fish and olive oils. Colbert also adheres to prohibitions of certain foods outlined in the Old Testament, such as pork and shellfish, based on the logic that Jesus would have probably adhered to the same restrictions. The book contains recipes based on these ingredients, such as falafel and guacamole.
