WebMD advises dieters to choose long-term diets that emphasize exercise and healthy life-style choices over fad and crash diets designed for rapid, short-term weight loss. For these reasons, a report from Harvard Health Publications also recommends Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. According to the report, the Weight Watchers point system encourages dieters to eat foods with high protein and fiber and avoid foods high in sugars and fat. The diet also includes an exercise component. Jenny Craig encourages the same healthy eating while also providing staff members to customize the plan to an individual's specific health needs.
The survey in U.S. News & World Report gave the lowest rankings to the Paleo Diet, the Acid Alkaline Diet, Glycemic-Index Diet and the Dukan Diet.
