Reduce daily calorie intake by eating smaller meals. Eat meals more frequently to improve the metabolism. Fat-burning foods have a high protein or fiber content, such as chicken, turkey, whole grains and berries. Avoid sodium and carbonated beverages because they cause water retention and bloating.
Perform cardiovascular exercises, such as running, dancing and hiking, at least five days per week for at least 30 minutes per workout. Perform Russian twists by sitting on the ground with the knees bent and chest pointing towards the ceiling. Keep the back straight, and hold the arms out straight. Twist the upper body to the left, then to the right for one repetition. To perform crisscross crunches, lie face up with the knees bent upwards, putting the legs at a 90-degree angle. Cross the legs at the knees. Hold the hands behind the neck. Bring the shoulders up, and touch the left elbow to the right knee.
