Natural ways to induce labor include sexual intercourse, nipple stimulation, acupressure, acupuncture and eating spicy foods. Only women with full-term pregnancies under the guidance of a medical provider should try methods of inducing labor.
Taking evening primose oil vaginally or orally, drinking castor oil and drinking red raspberry leaf tea are also methods of naturally inducing labor. Some healthcare providers perform membrane stripping to encourage labor. During this in-office procedure, the doctor or midwife uses a gloved finger to slightly separate the amniotic sack from the uterus.
However, childbirth experts report that no non-medical ways of inducing labor are proven as effective.
