Some ways to achieve a flatter stomach in a week include abstaining from salt, eating fewer carbohydrates and starches, avoiding lactose, eating the right kinds of fruit, and engaging in daily physical activity. Additionally, eliminating hot sauce and spicy foods, alcoholic beverages and diet foods helps.
Avoid excess salt and highly processed foods, as these are high in sodium and contribute to water retention and bloating. Consume plenty of fruits and vegetables that are high in water content. Cut down on carbohydrate intake, especially breads and pasta. Instead, eat protein such as eggs and lean meats along with fiber rich carbohydrates, including whole grain bread and brown rice. The lactose in dairy can also cause intestinal discomfort and bloating. Refrain from dairy for a few days, or choose low-lactose or lactose-free dairy products.
Choose fruits that are easier to digest, such as berries, citrus fruits and grapes. Instead of using hot sauce or spices to add flavor to meals, try fresh or dried herbs. Avoid diet foods and sugar replacements, including xylitol and malitol, as these cause bloating and other gastrointestinal problems, and abstain from alcoholic beverages for a few days. In addition to these dietary changes, aim to engage in some physical exercise each day to stimulate abdominal muscles and decrease gas and bloating.
