Ma huang contains ephedra, a powerful stimulant that has been linked to many health problems and even death. Good Housekeeping states that ephedra becomes even more dangerous in combination with caffeine. The guarana seed extract contained in the original version of TrimSpa has 60 milligrams of caffeine, and Good Housekeeping declares, "Don't risk your health" by using TrimSpa. The company that originally owned TrimSpa was Goen Technologies. It marketed many of its TrimSpa products saying TrimSpa helps to "stave off hunger."
According to Wikipedia, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission fined Goen Technologies for making unsupported claims in its marketing of TrimSpa. The use of ephedra has also been banned in products sold in the United States. A new version of TrimSpa called TrimSpa EF, which does not contain any ephedra, is being sold in stores. Its parent company is under new ownership.Learn more about Vitamins & Supplements
