An effective treatment option for psoriasis in the ear canal is fluocinolone, which is a liquid corticosteroid that the patient drips into the ear canal, explains Everyday Health. Other treatment options include cortisone creams, lotions, foams and ointments.
If the psoriasis has caused scales in the ear canal, a doctor usually has to remove them, explains the National Psoriasis Foundation. Certain over-the-counter and prescription shampoos, such as ketocanazole, can help to remove the scales, states Everyday Health. Prescription steroid solutions are then applied to the ear canal. If patients use Tazorac or Dovonex medication, they should combine them with topical steroids in order to avoid irritation in the ear canal.
