Total Gym is a training system that uses inclines and the body weight of the user in dynamic natural movement against gravity. Front-to-back, side-to-side and rotational motion are supported. The equipment is designed to be effective for exercisers of all weights, body styles and fitness levels.
The Total Gym was originally designed in 1974 and is produced by a California-based private company. In 1996, a marketing infomercial was created with spokespersons Christie Brinkley and Chuck Norris. It became the longest-running fitness infomercial in history, according to the company, and has been broadcast to more than 85 countries. Other high-profile names such as Wesley Snipes and Jackie Joyner-Kersee also endorse the Total Gym.
