The U.S. News & World Report ranks over 4,000 hospitals every year, in 16 different specialties. There are 11 factors for rating, including nurse-to-patient ratio, patient services, survival rate and reputation with other physicians, explains U.S. News & World Report.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has been ranked in the top two for 26 years. In 2015, they achieved a low ranking in only one category: preventing major bleeding and bruising after surgery. The facility was designated by the National Cancer Institute as being one of only 41 comprehensive cancer centers in the United States, according to Becker's Hospital Review.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is another National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. Founded in 1884, it is the oldest and largest private cancer center in the world, notes Becker's Hospital Review.
