Two of the top plastic surgeons in the United States are Dr. Aaron Rollins and Dr. Raj Kanodia, both of whom perform plastic surgery on some of Hollywood's best-known stars, says Harper's Bazaar. Dr. John Q. Owsley, the author of "Aesthetic Facial Surgery," is another top doctor in the field.
Typically, the best plastic surgeons are board-certified in plastic surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons explains. These doctors receive a minimum of five years of training in general surgery and two years of specialized training in an array of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including facial, breast and body surgeries. Additionally, they operate only in accredited medical facilities and follow ethical guidelines about the types of patients and conditions they treat. Board-certified plastic surgeons also are required to complete continuing education in plastic surgery and be up to date on the latest innovations in patient care.
A list of board-certified plastic surgeons is available on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website. Additionally, prospective patients may search for a plastic surgeon by specialty on U.S. News and World Report Health's Doctor Finder page. Both sites provide the option to search for a doctor by location and then click on the doctor's name to view additional information, such as his experience, years in practice and contact details.
