To stretch your calves, sit with your legs flat, wrap a towel around your foot, and gently pull the towel towards you until you feel it in your calves. Hold the towel in position for 15 to 30 seconds for each leg, and repeat the process.
- Sit flat on the floor
Sit flat on the floor with your legs stretched out straight in front of you. You can also sit on a bed or an exercise mat, as long as you sit flat.
- Wrap a towel around your foot
Wrap a long bath towel, or a beach towel, around the small of your foot, just under your toes. A piece of rope or long belt can be used in place of a towel.
- Pull the towel towards you
Pull the towel gently towards you, allowing your toes to bend slightly back towards your knee. Keep your knee straight. Continue to pull gently until you feel your muscles begin to stretch.
- Hold the position
Once you feel the stretch of your muscles, hold the towel in that position for 15 to 30 seconds, and slowly release.
- Repeat the process
After resting for a few seconds, repeat the process on your other leg. Stretch each leg 3 to 5 times twice per day.
