There are several steps such as salsa, merengue, samba and flamenco arms in Zumba dancing. Often involving dance and aerobic elements, Zumba classes are usually an hour long and taught by instructors licensed by Zumba Fitness, LLC.
To perform the salsa, step your right foot out to the side, bring it back to the center and repeat the step on the alternate foot. Stretch out your arms when stepping to the side, and sweep them across your face when stepping to the center. Rock your hips every time you move your foot.
To perform the merengue, cross your arms over your chest, and start marching by taking single steps at a time. While marching, the legs should be crossed. This move helps to tone and tighten the abdomen muscles.
To perform the samba, begin by standing in a lunge position. Throw your left foot to one side and swing your arms in the opposite direction. Repeat the step on the other leg in the opposite direction. During each step, sway your arms. To burn calories faster, wiggle your hips at each step.
When starting to perform flamenco arms, stand with your legs open slightly wider than the hips. Stretch one arm over your head and the other across your body, and roll your wrists. This move is beneficial for people with desk jobs, as it helps to loosen and relax the shoulder muscles.
