Wheelchairs designed for children have seat widths ranging between 10 and 16 inches depending on the model of the chair, says MobilityBasics.ca. Pediatric wheelchair seat depths range from 8 to 16 inches for heavy duty models, while the seat heights range between 8 and 20 inches.
Some pediatric wheelchair models have adjustable seat width capabilities of up to 3 inches, although this may call for a change of the seating system, explains MobilityBasics.ca. Generally, pediatric manual wheelchairs have a seat width of 14 inches and a depth of 12 inches, notes Home Health Pavilion. These chairs are set lower to the ground than adult wheelchairs, but have adjustable handles to fit the height of the person maneuvering the wheelchair.
