The AARP excerpted its seven-day plan from its book "New American Diet," which was published in 2012 and also has 14- and 30-day diet plans. These science-based plans are formulated for increased lifespan and disease prevention in addition to weight loss. A registere dietician, Marissa Lippert, formulated the Health.com plan, with overall health and weight loss as the goal. The meals and snacks are interchangeable, so you can customize the plan to your own tastes.
