The hospital's da Vinci surgical system employs robotics to translate a surgeon's hand movements into smaller, more precise actions with instruments inside the body that allow for more minimally invasive procedures, according to the da Vinci website. Physicians use the system for a variety of procedures, including heart, head and neck, general, and colorectal surgeries.
Scott & White Memorial Hospital is home to a variety of institutes, the hospital website states. They include the Roney Bone and Joint Institute, Scott & White Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center, Neuroscience Institute, and Heart and Vascular Institute.
The central Texas hospital also includes specialized services, such as a children's hospital, an anticoagulation clinic and a diabetes education center, the hospital website reports. Additional specialized services include an in vitro fertilization center as well as a center for movement disorders.
Scott & White Memorial Hospital also offers transplants, the hospital website says. Transplants include major organs such as kidney, pancreas, heart and lung. The hospital also performs corneal and blood stem cell transplants.
