Men who have had orchiectomies should use donut cushions or pillows to relieve discomfort when sitting after their surgeries, states Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. While patients can shower 48 hours after their procedures, they should not take baths or soak their incisions in water until their doctors say it is okay. They should remove their gauze pads before showering and clean their incisions gently before replacing the pads.
