Although anecdotal stories point to use of chamomile tea in pregnancy, the experts at WebMD point out that it is especially important for a pregnant woman to consult her doctor before using chamomile or any herbal supplement. WebMD also states that chamomile interacts with medications such as blood thinners.
The medical advisory board at BabyCenter suggests that a pregnant woman who chooses to drink herbal teas only do so in moderation and also discuss her choice with her doctor. Many herbs used in tea, when taken in large or concentrated doses, are harmful to a pregnant woman and her baby, even increasing the odds of miscarriage, early labor or low birth weight. The same advisory board lists chamomile among the potentially unsafe herbs for pregnant women.
