Is It Safe for Diabetics to Eat Snack Foods?

Diabetics may eat snacks as long as they choose their foods wisely, keep to their portion sizes to control blood glucose, count their carbohydrates, and use healthy choices, according to the American Diabetes Association. Not all snacks have a high sugar or added fat content.

Healthy snacks for diabetics give them the energy they need to get through their day while helping them curb their hunger, explains the ADA. Examples of healthy snacks with low carbohydrates content include a hard-boiled egg, a cup of light popcorn, a cup of chicken noodle soup, and half a peanut butter sandwich with a cup of milk.
