Many of the Transitions lenses reviews are positive. Users appreciate that these photochromatic lenses darken when they are outside and then clear up when indoors.
One review posted on Prologue Cycling states that the lenses offer crisp view and contrast without distorting the image. Spectacles Shoppe lists that one of the pros of Transitions lenses is that it only takes 30 seconds to adapt to light conditions. One of the drawbacks, though, is that a residual tint is left even when indoors. Some lenses also do not work while driving because the car's windshield blocks UV rays, which should trigger the photochromatic change. The lenses are also non-polarized.
However, as of June 2015, some Transitions lenses designs are polarized and suitable for driving.
